Is The AKG D-112 Just A Kick Drum Mic?
The AKG D112 is one of the industry standard microphones that is specifically designed for low frequency high SPL instruments. It can handle lots of sound and super high transients with virtually no distortion which makes it great for kick drum recording.

I use this mic all the time and love it. It has a great bottom end that you don’t get with some of the other popular kick microphones like the EV RE-27 or the Audix D2. I use this on kick drums, bass cabinets, low brass instruments and I have even used this on a hip hop rap vocal and got surprisingly good results.
The pickup pattern is cardioid and there is a build in windscreen which is great for kick drum as well as bass cabinet recording.
