Neumann U87 Review
Neumann U-87
The Neumann U87 is one of the most sought after studio microphones on the market today. This mic was originally made in 1966 and is still being manufactured today. This is a great microphone for many applications. I use it for vocals, strings, drum overheads, piano and occasionally on a guitar. I don’t use it for amps very often.
This is a mic that every studio should be equipped with however it is not cheap. The best price I have found is through this link.
Neumann U-87 Patterns
The U-87 microphone has three pickup patterns omnidirectional, cardioid and figure-8 which makes it very versatile but adds to the price. If you are looking for a great mic for a little less I would recommend the Neumann TLM-103 it only has a cardioid pattern but you can save a couple thousand dollars.
